# Backend

|
Public Hapi API. It checks JWTs, booklet ownership, and public links, then proxies chat to the chat engine. It does not call Bedrock or OpenSearch for conversation.

Copy `.env.example` to `.env`. `CHAT_ENGINE_URL` should be `http://127.0.0.1:3001` on the same machine. See `deploy/README.md` for the server process layout.
|
|
|
|
Owner routes live under `/api/admin/`. Public conversation routes live under `/api/public/`. The older `/api/booklets/upload` and `/api/voice/token` routes stay as they are.
